20 miles South of Butte
I-15 ...South of Butte --we started off on a rainy drive to take in wildflowers. The kids were on the lookout for baby moose and elk. Halfway up Fleecer Mountain, the fog was pulled upward and the colorful carpet of green, yellow, pink, blue and white flowers sparkled with dripping water and sunlight.

There is a Force in Butte
Something is in the air around here! The Uptown Artwalks, The Art Symposium, Outdoor Movies at the Original, Keep Dancing -The Sara Miro Foundation, The Original Festival, S.H.G.F Productions and The Trap Door Project, programs being hosted by the library, the new BAM = Butte Arts Monthly newspaper ...there is a driving force with a vision in town and it is very impressive! It seems several of these motivated individuals grew up in Butte ...moved for a time and are back to make a difference. There are also many forces from out-of-town, but they find Butte to be home already. They've bonded as an arts community with momentum --the new, the established and those with a foot in both worlds.

Silver Bow Kiwanis Bike Rodeo

I was very impressed by the organization of the volunteers at the Kiwanis Bike Rodeo today. The children had their bikes inspected and tires filled. They were instructed on different turning and stopping hand signals and they all received free bike helmets by very patient and helpful volunteers.

Kally's Korner & Hirbour Tower
Kally's Korner always catches my eye because of the beautiful window decor. I popped in today to find Cathy Moodry working. She is the creator of the seasonal window displays --currently bright yellow flowers! Kally's Korner, owned by Debbie McGloin, has been on the corner of Main & Broadway for over 25 years. I love the 100% organic cotton selections she carries. The clothing store is located on the first level of Hirbour Tower ...built in 1910. The Hummingbird Cafe
The Hummingbird Cafe opened in 2007 at 605 W. Park Street. The menu offers local and organic choices. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming for group meetings, catching up with friends or to sit with a cup of coffee and work on your laptop. Warmer months offer dining outside in a courtyard area. They have monthly rotating local artist's showings and live musical performances.

Headframe Spirits
Headframe Spirits opened in 2010 at 21 S. Montana. The atmosphere is open and friendly and the whiskey is delicious. They carry Gin, Vodka, Bourbon & Bourbon Cream Liqueur. Artist's openings feature music and catered appetizers. They just had a potluck competition where entries were required to use one of their spirits as ingredients!

Butte, MT Farmer's Market
The first Farmer's Market of the 2013 season began May 25th! It will run every Saturday from 8:30-1:00 on West Park Street between Gamer's Cafe and the Phoenix Building. May 26-October 6.
